Welcome to the Bunker Hill Pipe Band Home Page

About Us:

The Bunker Hill Pipe Band was re-established in February of 2009 as a new non-profit organization.   The Band quickly re-established a number of priority relationships including our relationship with our good friends, the Dropkick Murphys.   In the first 4 months of operation, the band completed about 16 jobs including 6 parades.   Since that time, the Band has continued to make significant progress on key goals and objectives that are critical to both our mission statement and our vision for the future.   We are truly grateful for all of the support we have received from friends and community.   It is this support that has helped make possible the successes we've already realized and the future successes the Band is striving to achieve.

Mission Statement:
  • To promote and encourage education in the culture and advancement of piping, drumming, drum majoring, and pipe band music both within and external to the local community.

  • Provide support, primarily in the form of performances, to other non-profit organizations and / or charities such as CHAD, MADD, AA and any other organization that promotes the health and welfare of others or raises the awareness of drug and alcohol abuse.

  • Means of achieving goals and objectives associated with mission statement include:

  • Educate young people in piping and drumming to help ensure that the band will continue to have a steady supply of quality pipers and drummers.

  • Provide for lessons to the youth of Charlestown or any other person deemed fit to receive said lessons as set forth within our by-laws.

  • Organize and sustain a performing pipe band that represents the Band's local community and its sponsorship through band performances.

  • Perform at local and area functions professionally, with pageantry and dignity.

Practice:

The Band holds practice on Wednesday nights from early October through the end of June (The first Wednesday of each month and holidays excluded).   Practices are held at the Somerville City Club in Somerville, Ma.
